Why the Height of Mount Everest Increased?

Introduction:

Mount everest is the highest peak of the world which is located in Nepal at 8,848.86 meters.In the 19th century the mountain was named after george everest a formal surveryor general of India.The tibetan name of mount everest is Chomolunma which means mother goddes of the world.The nepali name is sagarmatha which has various meaning.

The first ever recorded people to climb mount everest were Edmund Hilary a mountaineer form New Zeland and his Nepali guide Tensing Norgay.They climed the mountain in 1953 and hold the record together.

The first record of everest height come much earlier in 1856 which was annouced by Andrew Waugh and the height was 8840meters.It was possible because of calculation which was based on Trigonometric equation.

Why did Mount Everest height changed?

Thw world's highest mountain is now officially a little higher.After years of debate between China and Nepal finally agreed on a precise elevation for mount everest.

The new agreed height of mount everest is 8848.86 meters was annouced at a virtual ceremony.This is 86cm higher than the measurment previously reconized by Nepal.It is more than 4 meters above China official figure.

In 2005,China conducted several servage and came up with a measurment of 8848.43 meters.This provoked a row with Nepal which was later resolved in 2010.The discrepancy was due to china measuring the rock base on the summit and not the covering of snow and ice on the peak.Later Nepal decided to by China.About 300 Nepal's experts and survayors were involved in the exercise some on foot and other in helicopters.

The height of mount everest is increasing because of the movement of the tectonic plate including a major earthquake in 2015.The slow movement of tectonic plates increasing the height of mountains.
