Why the Height of Mount Everest Increased?

Image
Introduction: Mount everest is the highest peak of the world which is located in Nepal at 8,848.86 meters. In the 19th century the mountain was named after george everest a formal surveryor general of India. The tibetan name of mount everest is Chomolunma which means mother goddes of the world. The nepali name is sagarmatha which has various meaning. Paranomic view of mount everest The first ever recorded people to climb mount everest were Edmund Hilary a mountaineer form New Zeland and his Nepali guide Tensing Norgay. They climed the mountain in 1953 and hold the record together. The first record of everest height come much earlier in 1856 which was annouced by Andrew Waugh and the height was 8840meters.It was possible because of calculation which was based on Trigonometric equation. Why did Mount Everest height changed? Thw world's highest mountain is now officially a little higher. After years of debate between China and Nepal finally agreed on a precise elevation for mount everest. ...

Want to Become Geologist?

Introduction of Geology Geology is derived form the greek word,Geo means earth and logy means study of.Geology is the branch of science that deals with the study of surface of earth, physical history and structure of earth. It is also concerned with in study of rock of which it is composed of and the process by which they change over time.Geology also studies history all of life that's ever lived or still living in our earth today. Geology can be varied and people study all sorts of different things.for eg: Natural Hazards- like volcano, earthquake The earth interior-Inside of the earth is made form core, mantle and the crust. Paleontology-study of fossils Resources-Oil and gas exploration Space Exploration I am going to discuss about career in Geology.Career in geology is one of the most important question which is boggling in every student's mind who is doing his/her bachelors of science or masters in science. What do people do who study geology? There are a lot of career option ...

About San Andreas Fault

Image
Introduction: The San Andreas fault, the boundary between two moving plates formed between 15 to 20 million years ago.San Andreas fault id located in San Francsco,San Berardino,San juan Bautista. On the year 1895 San Andreas is officially defined which is named by Andrew Lawson.   Img:San Andreas Fault Depth: The San Andreas Fault is more than 800 miles long and extends to deep of at least 10 miles within the earth. The fault is a complex zone of crushed and broken rock form a few hundred feet to a mile wide  Why is San Andreas fault is important? California's Sleeping giant, the San Andreas fault, markes the slippery yet sticky boundary between two of Earth's tectonic plates. It is responsible for the biggest earthquake in California upto magnitude 8.1. What type of fault is the San Andreas?  A san Andreas earthquake would be classified as occurring on the strike-slip fault.Strike-slip fault are found along boundries of tectonic plate sliding past each other.   Img:strike...

The Earthquake Which I had Experienced

Introduction about the Earthquake An Earthquake is a suddden movement or trembling of the Earth's tectonic plates in the Earth crust, and quakes occur when the frictional stress of gliding plate boundries build and cause failure at a fault line.In an Earthquake, elastic energy is released seismic waves radiate cause shaking of the ground. -Photo of rescuers rescuing in earthquake Nepal Earthquake 2015 On the 2015 April 25,Nepal experienced a earthquake which was 7.9 magnitude also known as Gorkha earthquake.More than 900 people were killed, thousands of people were injured more than 6,00,000 structure in all over the Nepal were damage.  The devastating Gorkha Earthquake measuring to 7.9 magnitude having ths epicenter occurred near Barpak village of Gorkha district which is 181 km northwest of kathmandu. On may 2015,a 6.8 magnitude of strong aftershock caused further damage and sufferings and there are total of 384 aftershock  The earthquake severly affected 14 district(Gork...

How was the Earth Formed?

Image
Here are the some points about the earth formation: -One of the oldest questions for mankind is how the Earth was formed. However, no one has an exact answer. First by the best estimates it occurred over 4 billion years ago before any life appeared. So there are no eyewitness accounts and other pieces of evidence. The best we can do is look at the geologic record and the stars to get our answers. While we may not have the entire picture we have a good idea and it all starts with how stars are born. -Just like the formation of the Earth and other planets stars take a long time to be be born. Stars are essentially formed from clouds of gas in space. We know these as nebulas. You can basically consider them to be star forges. Over time gravity causes the atoms of gases and space dust to start coming together and gathering. Over time this gather of gases gains more mass and with it stronger gravity. This is a process that can take millions of years. In time the gravity causes the gases, ma...

History of Physical Geology

Image
1.Physical Geology: -It is the study of the earth's rocks, minerals, soils and how they have formed through time. -Complex internal process such as plate tectonics and mountain-building have form these rock and brought them to the earth's surface. -Earthquakes are the result of the sudden movement of  crustal surface releasing internal energy that becomes distructive at the surface.Internal heat and energy release also through volcanic eruption. -External process such and glaciation, running water, weathering, erosion have form the landscape we can see now. -About 2300 years ago,the Greeks, led by the philosoher Aristotle were among the first who try to understand the earth.During 1600s and 1700s scientists believed the earth had been produce by gigantic ,sudden catastrophoic event that build mountains, oceans, canyons etc. -In the late 1700s, James Hutton, a Scottish doctor, proposed that the physical processes that shape the world today also operated in the geologic past—a principle...
